PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Solid Pultruded CFRP Rods with Longitudinal Fiber Alignment

A pultruded carbon fiber rod is a solid composite profile produced by pulling continuous carbon fibers through resin and a heated forming die. The fibers remain primarily aligned in the 0° longitudinal direction, providing high axial stiffness and tensile performance at low weight.

This directional construction is well suited to struts, spars, push rods, positioning members and bonded reinforcement. Transverse loads, drilled connections and concentrated bearing loads require separate engineering review because a pultruded rod is strongly anisotropic.

MADE TO ORDER

Custom Diameter and Cut-to-Length Carbon Fiber Rods

Choose a custom pultruded carbon fiber rod when standard retail sizes do not match the assembly. Tooling, diameter tolerance, straightness, shipping length and end processing are reviewed together.

Custom Diameter

Small and large diameters reviewed against tooling, fiber packing and tolerance.

Custom Length

Continuous lengths or precision cut-to-length rods for the final assembly.

T300 / T700 Fiber

Fiber grade selected around stiffness, strength, cost and supply requirements.

Custom Resin

Resin system reviewed for temperature, chemicals, water and outdoor exposure.

Common inquiry sizes: 1 mm, 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm and 12 mm solid CFRP rods. Availability and tolerances depend on tooling and volume.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS

Pultruded Carbon Fiber Rod Manufacturing

Continuous pultrusion creates a constant solid cross section with fibers concentrated along the rod axis. Process control covers fiber alignment, resin impregnation, die temperature, pulling speed, cure and finished diameter.

ENGINEERING PERFORMANCE

Engineering Properties of Pultruded Carbon Rods

Published values must be tied to the actual carbon fiber, resin, fiber volume and test method. The following characteristics describe the design intent rather than guaranteed universal values.

High Axial Stiffness

0° fibers provide efficient stiffness along the rod length.

High Tensile Efficiency

Continuous longitudinal fibers support axial tensile loading.

Low Structural Weight

High specific stiffness supports lightweight machine design.

Corrosion Resistance

CFRP avoids metal corrosion, subject to resin and environment review.

Low Thermal Expansion

Useful for stable structures when temperature behavior is verified.

Directional Behavior

Transverse and bearing loads require deliberate joint design.

INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS

Pultruded Carbon Fiber Rods for OEM Applications

Use solid pultruded CFRP rods where the principal load follows the rod axis and low mass, corrosion resistance or dimensional stability supports the design.

Robotics & Automation

Push rods, braces and lightweight positioning members.

UAV & RC Structures

Spars, longerons and directional reinforcement.

Measuring Equipment

Low-mass supports and dimensionally stable members.

Industrial Assemblies

Bonded struts, guides, handles and structural inserts.

Sporting Equipment

Application-specific stiffeners and flex members.

Structural Reinforcement

Bonded rods for timber, concrete or composite systems after engineering review.

MATERIAL SELECTION

Pultruded Carbon Fiber Rod vs. Roll-Wrapped Tube

Select by load path and interface rather than appearance. A solid pultruded rod and a roll-wrapped tube are not interchangeable.

FAQ

Pultruded Carbon Fiber Rod FAQ

Engineering, customization and purchasing questions for solid carbon fiber pultruded rods.

It is a solid CFRP profile made by continuously pulling aligned carbon fibers through resin and a heated die to form a constant cross section.

This page covers solid pultruded rods. Hollow carbon fiber tubes use different tooling and may use pultrusion or roll wrapping depending on the required laminate.

Yes. Standard tooling is reviewed first; a custom die may be evaluated when the diameter, tolerance and projected volume justify it.

Yes. Rods can be supplied in production lengths or precision cut according to the drawing, packaging and shipping requirements.

T300, T700 and project-specific grades can be reviewed. Selection depends on stiffness, strength, cost, process compatibility and availability.

Selected holes and flats may be processed, but the design must consider transverse strength, fiber breakout, edge distance and load transfer.

Bonded end fittings can be evaluated using an appropriate prepared surface, adhesive, overlap length and load-transfer design.

They provide strong longitudinal stiffness, but joint details and transverse stresses must be reviewed. Tubes or multi-directional laminates may be preferable for some bending and torsional cases.

Epoxy and application-specific thermoset systems can be reviewed against temperature, chemicals, moisture, UV exposure and production requirements.

Options may include as-pultruded, ground, coated or bonding-ready surfaces depending on diameter, fit, appearance and joining requirements.

Prototype and small-batch supply can be reviewed based on existing tooling, material, length, machining and inspection requirements.

Provide the diameter, tolerance, length, straightness, application, load direction, fiber or performance target, environment, end-processing drawing, quantity and destination.
